Frequently Asked Questions
How does Acupuncture work?
Our body possess natural capacity to heal and maintain healthy state. However, when the outside pathogenic factor invades the body or internal disorder disrupts this process, we are considered to be ill. By stimulating the meridians and acu-points located throughout the body with acupuncture, we improve the autoimmune response and increase the healing potential a person holds. Through activation of this energy, our body learns to recover from illness or injury.
What kind of needles are used?
Are they safe?
Safety is our number one priority. In our clinic, only the highest quality disposable needles by SERIN are used to ensure the safety and quality of the treatment for all our patients. Acupuncture needles are hair thin and most patients do not feel any sensation. The needles we use have been setting the world´s standards for painless acupuncture needles.
What should I wear?
Loose clothes are recommended when you visit us for a treatment so we can access by simply role up the sleeves or pants leg.
How does Acupuncture feel?
We use Japanese Acupuncture technique which is gentle and virtually painless. Needles are extremely thin and because they are solid, they can be inserted without discomfort typically associated with injection needles.
We have No-Needle treatments available as an option for our patients. We use non-penetrating needle which uses springs to give similar stimulation to the acupuncture points.
How many treatments will I need?
Number of treatments will vary based on the condition being treated. Each person receives an individualized treatment plan based on age, past medical history, lifestyle, treatment goals and current pain status.
Another information to keep in mind is what the nature of the problem is. A patient may come to our clinic due to back pain because of recent injury will likely to need fewer treatments than another patient coming in for same back pain, but due to problem relating to menstrual flow. Acute pain is generally resolved in a short series of treatments scheduled close together and chronic pain requires consistent regular treatment to achieve long-term pain relief.
